Miwako Nitani is an Associate Professor and Co-Director of the Microprogram in Capital Markets at the Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa. Her research focuses on entrepreneurial finance, venture capital, behavioral finance, and financial literacy, with policy-relevant contributions to SME lending and public policy evaluation.

Her research examines structural challenges in the Canadian venture capital sector, financial decision-making among entrepreneurs, and capital flow dynamics. She investigates how public policies can enhance SME financing and wealth maximization through studies on budgeting, gender disparities, and crowdfunding mechanisms.
Nitani’s publications highlight trends in SME financing, equity crowdfunding, and behavioral finance. Key themes include loan performance analysis, financial literacy interventions, and policy scalability for small business support.
