Misun Lim is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Siegen, Germany, and a Visiting Researcher at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center. She previously held a Max Weber Fellowship at the European University Institute (2018-2020) and conducted research at the Academy of Korean Studies (2008). Her work focuses on gender inequality in labor markets, social demography, and cross-national comparisons using quantitative methods.
Education includes a PhD in Sociology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst (2019), M.A. in Sociology from Columbia University (2008), and B.A. in Urban Sociology from the University of Seoul (2007). She has also held visiting roles at Boston University and the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Her research explores themes like parenthood's impact on job training, racial/gender pay disparities, and cohort differences in family status. She contributes to projects such as the EU Horizon 2020 initiative 'TECHNEQUALITY,' examining technological innovations and social inequality.
Misun’s academic output spans peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes, addressing topics such as work-life balance, marriage earnings dynamics, and policy contexts affecting self-employment. She actively engages in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of sociology, demography, and labor economics.
