Martina Dieckhoff

Prof. Martina Dieckhoff is a Professor of Methods of Empirical Social Research and Statistics at Europa-Universität Flensburg since 2018. She previously served as a Senior Researcher at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center (2008–2018) and held postdoctoral positions at institutions including the Danish National Centre for Social Research and Nuffield College/Oxford University. Her academic journey includes a diploma in Political Science from the Free University of Berlin (1997–2000) and subsequent advanced studies in comparative social policy and sociology at Nuffield College.

Her research focuses on Education and Training, Social Inequality, Sociology of Labor Markets and Higher Education, and Quantitative Methodologies. Key themes include gender disparities in employment, unemployment’s social consequences, and institutional impacts on labor market dynamics. She has conducted comparative studies across Europe, particularly analyzing Germany, the UK, and Denmark.

Dieckhoff has led projects funded by the Jacobs Foundation and contributed to initiatives like the “Discovery of Youth’s Learning Potential”. Her work frequently intersects with policy analysis, emphasizing evidence-based approaches to social and labor market challenges. Notable publications include studies on household labor income inequality and unemployment’s long-term scars in Germany.
