Mischa Gallati is a Lecturer and Study Program Coordinator for Popular Cultures at the University of Zurich's Institute for Social Anthropology and Empirical Cultural Sciences (ISEK). They also serve as Deputy Managing Director of ISEK. Gallati's research focuses on everyday life, power dynamics, social configurations, cultural performances, and historical dimensions of culture.

Research interests include everyday life and power structures, with a historical lens on guardianship systems, Swiss social policies, and cultural performances. Their work bridges urban studies, eugenics, and social work, often examining marginalized communities and institutional histories.
Recent publications explore the Swiss Plateau's cultural identity, school custodians in media, Zurich's institutional history, and legal reforms in child protection. Gallati has received the Worlddidac Award 2008 and the Recognition Award of the City of Lucerne 2008 for collaborative works.
- Coordinated self-learning modules and taught courses on urban culture, Swiss migration discourses, and empirical methods since 2007.
