Mirjam Buehler is a dedicated educator and academic professional affiliated with the Department of Education at the University of York. Born in Switzerland and educated in Germany and England, she brings a transnational perspective to her work, having earned teaching qualifications in both countries. Her career spans leadership roles in schools, including headships, and a focus on Initial Teacher Training (ITT) since 2014, where she emphasizes the integration of learning theories, research positions, and personalized ITT programs to achieve quality educational outcomes.
Her professional expertise includes mentoring across multiple educational stages—from trainees and Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) to Middle Leaders and aspiring headteachers—with a strong commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD). She remains actively engaged in teaching GCSE students, reflecting her enduring passion for Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) and widening pupils' horizons. Mirjam has also served as a governor in diverse educational settings and on the Local Authority (LA) Safeguarding Board.
