Isabelle Schäfer

Isabelle Schäfer is a Senior Lecturer in Secondary Education: Modern Languages at the University of Worcester. She serves as PGCE secondary subject leader for modern languages and holds additional roles including PGCE module lead, Quality Coordinator, and International Coordinator for the Institute of Education. Her professional experience includes 8+ years in secondary education with middle management roles (Second in MFL Department, i/c Spanish) and IBO moderation (French).

Research focuses on cross-curricular collaboration, social justice in education, and reading comprehension strategies. Key publications explore trainee teacher perspectives, literary education in schools, and GCSE assessment methodologies. She actively presents at national and international conferences, including a 2022 presentation on language learning for social justice and a 2019 co-presentation on GCSE literary extracts in France.
