Dr. Miriam Lommen is an Associate Professor at the University of Groningen’s Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences, specializing in Clinical Psychology & Experimental Psychopathology. She holds leadership roles including Chair of the trauma-related disorders theme group at NSA/RGOc and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tijdschrift voor Gedragstherapie. Her research focuses on PTSD, anxiety, fear conditioning, and CBT interventions, with a particular interest in trauma prevention and treatment efficacy.
Education: PhD in Clinical Psychology (Utrecht University, 2008), MSc in Mental Health Science (Maastricht University, 2008). Postdoctoral training at Oxford University’s OxCADAT (2013–2015). Licensed Cognitive Behavioral Therapist since 2012.
Research emphasizes trauma vulnerability, fear generalization in firefighters, and transdiagnostic factors in mental health. Key contributions include network analysis of PTSD comorbidities and cost-effectiveness studies of trauma treatments. Awards include the Young minds award (2017) and international grants for trauma care innovation.
Supervises PhD students in trauma-related research and coordinates clinical psychology master’s programs. Active in professional societies like the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (VGCt) and editorial boards.
