Norwegian University of Science And Technologyمعرفی
Miriam Kyselo is a Professor of Philosophy at the Institute of Philosophy and Religious Studies, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and leads the interdisciplinary Agency, Action and Embodiment research group. She is also a Co-Principal Investigator in the Science of Intelligence Excellence Cluster at TU Berlin and co-leads the Physical Activity team within NTNU's strategic Health and Life Science research area.
- PhD, Cognitive Science, University of Osnabrüeck (2013)
- M.A., Philosophy of Cognitive Science, University of Sussex (2007)
- Graduate/post-graduate studies at Universities of Berlin and Potsdam
Kyselo specializes in 4E cognition (enactive, embodied, extended, embedded mind theories) and develops a relational model of the self integrating embodiment, technology, and sociality. Her work bridges philosophy with neuroscience, robotics/AI, and psychology, focusing on topics like mental health, inter-agent affordances, and applied ethics. She actively promotes interdisciplinary dialogue through initiatives like the AAE research network at NTNU and the Interself Lab at TU Berlin.
Her peer-reviewed publications and edited book chapters, spanning 2009–2024, reveal consistent engagement with enactive selfhood, dual systems in cognition, social interaction dynamics, and neurotechnology ethics, often intersecting with clinical applications in psychiatry and psychotherapy. Key trends include the role of interpersonal synchrony, dialogue, and embodied agency in mental health research.
Scientific awards and fellowships include:
- Marie Curie Post-Doctoral Fellow (2011–2014)
- Marie Curie Experienced Researcher (IPODI) (2015–2017)
- DFG conference grant for The Open Self – Investigating the Boundaries of the Self (2018)
- PhD Fellowship at the Graduate School Adaptivity in Hybrid Systems (2008–2011)
Kyselo has coordinated NTNU's interdisciplinary research network on embodiment and cognition and previously founded the Interself Lab at TU Berlin. She actively seeks collaborations in embodied cognition, artificial intelligence, and mental health research.
