Mirgen Shametaj

Mirgen Shametaj is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Archaeology and Ancient Studies at Sweet Briar College. With decades of archaeological experience in both academic and private sectors, he specializes in teaching courses on the history of archaeology, field methods, and Graeco-Roman Mediterranean archaeology.

Shametaj holds a B.A. in Public Administration from Eqerem Cabej University (Albania) and an M.S. in Archaeology from the University of Tirana (Albania). He currently teaches ARAS 105 (The Ancient Mediterranean Laboratory), ARAS 225 (The Ancient World in 12 Objects), and ARAS 265 (The Archaeology of Everyday Life).
