Erin Pitt is an Assistant Professor and Program Head of Archaeology and Ancient Studies at Sweet Briar College. She holds appointments in History and Art History, and coordinates with the Arts Management Certificate program. Her research focuses on Roman colonial urbanism, imperial strategies, and women's roles in provincial transformation.

Dr. Pitt's fieldwork includes supervisory roles at sites in Italy, Albania, and Butrint, including co-direction of the Roman Colonial Urbanism Project in Pompeii. She pioneered excavations at Matohasanaj (Albania) starting 2023, integrating student researchers. She teaches courses ranging from classical mythology to contemporary archaeological theory and cultural heritage management.
Her administrative roles include directing the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and advising senior seminars. Current projects emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to ancient urban dynamics and public engagement with archaeological heritage.
