Dr. Mira Scholten is an Associate Professor in International and European Law at Utrecht University’s Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance. She coordinates the Jean Monnet Network on EU Law Enforcement (EULEN) and serves as director of the LLM Law and Economics program. Her work focuses on EU law enforcement, regulatory governance, and public accountability, with a specific emphasis on legitimacy in multi-level systems.

Scholten’s research explores enforcement mechanisms in the EU, including independent agencies and the rule of law. She has contributed to edited volumes such as the Research Handbook on the Enforcement of EU Law and co-edits the blog eulawenforcement.com. Her awards include the 2012 Europe Award and the 2016 Veni Grant for her work on shared enforcement in the EU.
