Mira Frisch is a Professor of Cello and Director of String Chamber Music at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She previously taught at Truman State University and the Musicale della Toscana summer festival in Italy. Her expertise spans cello performance, chamber music, and music pedagogy. Dr. Frisch has performed as guest principal cellist with the Charleston Symphony, Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, and Madison Park String Quartet, and holds leadership roles in professional organizations like the American String Teachers Association.
Education: B.A. in Music and Mathematics (Saint Olaf College), M.M. in Cello Performance (Cleveland Institute of Music), D.M.A. in Cello Performance (University of Minnesota).
Research focuses on interdisciplinary music performance, chamber ensemble techniques, and pedagogical approaches to string instruction. She has presented at national conferences of the American String Teachers Association, College Music Society, and Society of Composers. Recordings include works with Duo XXI (Albany Records), the opera Songs of the Fisherman, and John Allemeier's Dark Dances.
