Minna Koivula is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Jyväskylä's Department of Language and Communication Studies, within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. She focuses on the intersection of journalistic work and digitalization, exploring organizational communication, institutional change, and newsroom dynamics. Her doctoral thesis (2024) investigated development work, digital technologies, and journalism as an institution.
Her research interests include creativity and innovation in newsrooms, platform isomorphism, and the ethical dimensions of data use in media services. She actively contributes to the Cocodigi research group, studying communication on digital platforms, and leads the GET:ORG project examining generative AI's role in organizing.
Koivula teaches journalism at both BA and MA levels and supervises theses on digital journalism trends. Her recent work highlights pandemic-era remote work impacts on media workers’ wellbeing and the role of bots in shaping online discourse. She collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to address challenges in contemporary media landscapes.
