Anu Sivunen is a Professor of Communication at the University of Jyväskylä, affiliated with the Department of Language and Communication Studies within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. She leads the CoCoDigi research group, focusing on communication and collaboration in digital platforms, and co-leads the EWIDE initiative exploring emergent work in the digital era. Previously, she worked at Aalto University and held visiting scholar positions at UC Santa Barbara and Stanford University.
Her research examines remote/hybrid work, organizational communication technologies, and work-life boundary management. Key projects include studies on algorithmic management in crowdwork, datafication in media industries, and proximity dynamics in multilocational work. She advises Master’s and Ph.D. students and co-leads the EWIDE profiling area funded by the Research Council of Finland.
Publications span journals like Academy of Management Annals and New Media & Society, addressing topics such as digital connectivity, work-related stress, and ICT affordances. Awards include recognition from the International Communication Association and National Communication Association.
