Mingdong Liu

Mingdong Liu serves as a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Biology at the School of Life Sciences, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) in Shenzhen, China.

Dr. Liu's research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of ESCRT-III-dependent membrane fission and the molecular mechanisms underlying the life cycle of marine viruses. His work combines structural biology techniques, particularly cryo-electron microscopy, with biochemical and biophysical approaches to elucidate intricate mechanisms of membrane remodeling and viral infection processes. His research has important implications for understanding fundamental cellular processes and viral pathogenesis.

His recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on structural virology and membrane biology, with multiple high-impact papers in journals like PNAS, Nature Communications, and Science Advances.
