She holds a Ph.D. from Louisiana State University and an M.A. from Arizona State University, specializing in Performance Studies, Visual Cultural Studies, and Critical Methodology. Her interdisciplinary work bridges communication studies, visual rhetoric, and cultural analysis.
Fenske's research examines how identity is constructed through bodily performance and visual representation. She investigates multi-mediated depictions of the human body across historical and contemporary contexts, focusing on critical agency and social transformation through these key areas:
- The intersection of performance theory and visual rhetoric
- Cultural production of identity through bodily practices
- Critical methodologies for analyzing mediated representations
- Social and political dimensions of visual culture
Her scholarly publications demonstrate consistent focus on embodiment, visual rhetoric, and cultural critique, with recurring themes of resistance, interpretation methodologies, and ethics in performance. This body of work establishes her as a significant contributor to performance and cultural studies.
