Jennifer Blevins is an Instructor and Interim Director of the Writing Center in the Department of English Language and Literature at the University of South Carolina's McCausland College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a PhD and MFA from the University of South Carolina, as well as an MA and BA from Wake Forest University.
Her research spans interdisciplinary themes at the intersection of literature, social advocacy, and medical discourse. Primary interests include:
- Fat Studies: Examining societal and medical stigmatization of body habitus
- American Women Writers: Critical analysis of 20th/21st-century literary voices
- Medical Humanities: Exploring rhetoric in healthcare documentation
- Creative Nonfiction: Crafting narratives on identity and embodiment
Her publications consistently address body politics, stigma, and representation through literary criticism and memoir. Recent works demonstrate a focus on medical rhetoric (2021), literary analysis of female corporeality (2020), and autobiographical exploration of fat identity (2019).
