Dr. Mimi Kim is an Associate Professor at the School of Social Work within the College of Health and Human Services at California State University, Long Beach. She specializes in social movements, community organizing, and transformative justice approaches to domestic violence and sexual assault in communities of color.
- Education: PhD in Social Welfare (UC Berkeley, 2014), MSW (New York University, 2003), Graduate Studies in Sociology (University of Wisconsin, 1984-1987), Graduate Studies in Economics (Stanford University, 1983-1984), BS in Economics (University of Minnesota, 1983).
Her research focuses on community accountability frameworks for violence intervention, emphasizing immigrant and refugee populations. She teaches courses in social policy, macro social work practice, and thesis advising.
