Noel B. Busch-Armendariz

Noel B. Busch-Armendariz serves as University Presidential Professor at the Steve Hicks School of Social Work, University of Texas at Austin, where she directs the Institute on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (IDVSA) within the Department of Social Work.

Education:

Her research examines systemic violence against women and children through frameworks of moral reasoning, immigrant/maternal health policy, international social work education, and child welfare systems. This interdisciplinary work bridges clinical practice with macro-level policy reform to address gender-based violence and human trafficking.

As IDVSA Director, she leads institutional initiatives combating gender-based violence while teaching foundational courses including S W 392R (Children and Families), S W 393T (Leadership Strategies), and undergraduate seminars on modern-day slavery (UGS 302/303) that examine human trafficking through synchronous online and in-person formats.
