Noël Busch-Armendariz

Noël Busch-Armendariz is a University Presidential Professor, Associate Dean for Global Engagement, and Director of the Institute on Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault (IDVSA) at The University of Texas at Austin’s Steve Hicks School of Social Work. She holds a Ph.D., MPA, and MSW from the University of South Carolina, and a BA in Psychology from High Point University. Her global experience includes work in 8 countries and leading international programs such as the President’s Award for Global Learning (PAGL) in Northern Ireland and Lebanon.

Her research focuses on violence against women and children, human trafficking, and policy development. She has led over 60 funded research projects, including the Statewide Human Trafficking Mapping Project and the Full Court Press initiative to enhance expert witness training in court systems. Her publications include award-winning textbooks on human trafficking and social work practice.

Dr. Busch-Armendariz has provided expert testimony in over 100 criminal, civil, and immigration cases related to domestic violence, sexual assault, and trafficking. She co-led the Uvalde response team following the 2022 school shooting and founded IDVSA, a multi-disciplinary collaboration between social work, nursing, law, and business schools.
