Juliana Carlson

Juliana Carlson is an Associate Professor at the University of Kansas School of Social Welfare, serving as the BSW Program Director and a Faculty Affiliate at the Toni Johnson Center for Racial and Social Justice. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota and has over a decade of experience in domestic violence advocacy and community organizing. Her research focuses on gender-based violence prevention, particularly engaging men and addressing systemic inequities. Carlson has published over 25 peer-reviewed articles and presented globally on topics such as men’s roles in violence prevention and policy advocacy.

Research Interests: Dr. Carlson’s work examines system-level responses to gender-based violence, including strategies to engage men in prevention and reduce child exposure to domestic violence. Key areas include gender equity, men’s allyship, and the intersection of child welfare and domestic violence.
