Milena V. Trmcic

Milena V. Trmcic is a Senior Scientific Associate at the Innovative Centre of the Faculty of Chemistry in Belgrade, Serbia, affiliated with the Department of Organic Chemistry. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Durham University and has been actively contributing to research since 2009.

  • Doctoral studies in Chemistry (2006-2009), Durham University, United Kingdom

Her research focuses on organic chemistry, particularly the development of synthetic methods for natural products and bioactive molecules. She has led projects on antiviral therapies, including the repurposing of iminosugars and chloroquine analogues against COVID-19, and is currently working on rapid total syntheses of complex compounds.

Notable projects include:

• SMART Repurposing (2020-2022): Small Molecule Anti-RNA-virus Therapy funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia
• New SMART Synthesis (2022-2025): New Synthetic Methods for Rapid Total Syntheses funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia

She has received recognition for her work, including the Royal Society of Chemistry's best poster award in 2008.
