Filip T. Djurkovic

Filip T. Djurkovic is a Lecturer in the Department of Organic Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Belgrade.

He was born on February 5, 1996, in Belgrade. His educational background includes:

• Basic Academic Studies in Chemical Sciences (2015-2019) at the University of Belgrade - Faculty of Chemistry
• Master of Academic Studies in Chemical Sciences (2019-2020) at the University of Belgrade - Faculty of Chemistry

His research focuses on organic synthesis methodologies, particularly for total synthesis of complex natural products and bioactive molecules. He specializes in developing novel synthetic routes with applications in antiviral drug discovery, including repurposing iminosugars and chloroquine analogues against RNA viruses. His work bridges fundamental organic chemistry with therapeutic development.

Dr. Djurkovic actively participates in externally funded research initiatives:

• Current project (2022-2025): New synthetic methods and their applications for rapid total syntheses of complex natural products and bioactive molecules (New SMART Synthesis) - IDEJE type project funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia
• Completed project (2020): Small Molecule Therapy of RNA Viruses. Repurposing Iminosugars and Chloroquine Analogues against Covid-19 (SMART Repurposing) - COVID-19 emergency project funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia
