معرفی
Professor Mike Williamson is a Personal Chair at the University of Sheffield's School of Biosciences, specializing in protein structure and function using NMR spectroscopy. He holds a ScD from Cambridge (2001) and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (1995). His career includes roles as Head of the Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (2017–2021) and leadership in national/international scientific organizations like the UK NMR Discussion Group and the Biochemical Society.
- Education: PhD from University of Cambridge (1981), BSc Natural Sciences from Cambridge (1978).
- Research: Focuses on NMR methodology, protein structure determination, and antibiotic mechanisms. Key contributions include NMR studies of vancomycin and early protein structure work with Kurt Wüthrich.
His research interests span NMR applications, protein dynamics, and the structural basis of antibiotic action. Recent articles highlight NMR validation methods, AlphaFold accuracy, and antimicrobial mechanisms. Major awards include the ScD from Cambridge and JSPS Invitation Fellowship (1997).
He has advised on grants and led teams in structural biology, contributing to seminal works like How Proteins Work (2011). Collaborative projects include work on bacterial peptidoglycan recognition and CORM toxicity mechanisms.
