Professor Philip Williamson is a Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics and Head of School at the University of Southampton's School of Biological Sciences. He holds a BSc from the University of Oxford (St Hugh’s College, 1995) and a D.Phil. in solid-state NMR methodologies from Oxford, with postdoctoral work at ETH Zürich. He joined Southampton in 2007 as a Wellcome Trust Career Development Fellow, progressing to Lecturer (2011), Associate Professor (2019), and Professor (2023). His research focuses on neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer’s/Parkinson’s), cell membrane structure-function, and innovative solid-state NMR techniques for biological systems. He leads projects funded by Wellcome Trust, EPSRC, and others, and accepts PhD students.
- Education: BSc Biochemistry (Oxford, 1995), D.Phil. (Oxford, 2000)
