Mike Truesdell serves as Associate Professor of Music Performance at Ithaca College's School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, specializing in Sound. An accomplished percussionist, he has performed globally with ensembles including the New York City Ballet, International Contemporary Ensemble, and Lucerne Festival Ensemble under Pierre Boulez.
His academic background includes:
- Bachelor's degree from Lawrence University (studying under Dane Richeson)
- Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts from The Juilliard School (with Dan Druckman, Greg Zuber, Markus Rhoten, and Gordon Gottlieb)
Truesdell's research integrates percussion performance with global musical traditions from Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East, alongside deep analysis of collaborative works such as Stravinsky's Histoire du Soldat. His doctoral dissertation on Stravinsky was supported by a Presser Award for archival research in Switzerland.
