Matthew McClung serves as Associate Professor of Music at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and principal percussionist for ROCO and the Glimmerglass Opera Festival. An accomplished performer, he has appeared with major ensembles including the Phoenix Symphony, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and symphony orchestras across the United States, alongside opera companies like Houston Grand Opera and Hawaii Opera Theater.

Dr. McClung is a leading advocate for new music, having commissioned and premiered works by David Lang, John Luther Adams, and Martin Bresnick. He actively explores cross-cultural collaborations and innovative chamber formats.
His primary recognition includes the Presser award, which enabled immersive study with the Master Drummers of the Ewe tribe in Ghana.

As founding member of Drumpetello (percussion/trumpet/cello trio), he pioneers experimental chamber music. His performance career spans orchestral, solo, and collaborative projects with artists like Alisa Weilerstein and ensembles including So Percussion and Elemental Percussion.
