Troy Breaux is the Coordinator of Percussion Studies and Master Instructor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he teaches percussion performance and pedagogy across classical and jazz disciplines. He also serves as artistic director for the UL Lafayette Percussion Ensemble and World Percussion Ensembles. Previously, he held faculty positions at Auburn University, the University of Tennessee, and Seguin Independent School District, where he taught percussion, directed drum lines, and conducted concert/jazz bands.

His research focuses on percussion pedagogy, jazz improvisation, and Latin rhythm systems, with applied work in ensemble leadership and cross-cultural percussion traditions. Professional practice integrates academic research through clinical endorsements and published compositions.
As an active performer, he is percussionist for the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, timpanist for Chorale Acadienne, and member of jazz/Latin ensembles including Malentina and Latino Pulse. Notable performances include the 2023 Percussive Arts Society International Convention and New Orleans Jazz Festival.
