Mike Holder is an Academic Fellow in General Practice at the Usher Institute, College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, The University of Edinburgh. He is based in the Advanced Care Research Centre (ACRC), a multi-disciplinary research programme focused on improving care for people with multiple conditions in later life.
His work aligns with the ACRC's vision to improve the quality and sustainability of care provision and reduce inequalities in order to enhance quality of life, dignity, and the desired level of independence of people living with multiple conditions in later life. The ACRC combines research across medicine, care professions, engineering, informatics, data science and social sciences to develop innovative care models.
As an Academic Fellow in General Practice, Mike Holder contributes to research that addresses healthcare systems and inequalities in care provision for older populations, with particular focus on primary care aspects of geriatric medicine and integration of general practice services within broader care frameworks.
His research interests include General Practice, Geriatric Care, Healthcare Systems, Care for Older Adults, and Health Inequalities, reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of the ACRC's mission.
