- M.S., Geosciences, Mississippi State University (1995)
- B.S., Meteorology, Western Illinois University (1991)
Dr. Brown's research focuses on land-surface-atmosphere interactions, severe local storms, and applied climatology. His work examines tornado dynamics, lightning risk assessment, and climate impacts on ecosystems. Recent publications analyze vegetation recovery post-tornado, mallard migration patterns linked to climate, and lightning probabilities at athletic venues.
He teaches graduate courses in Mesoscale Meteorology, Radar Meteorology, and Advanced Mesoscale Meteorology. Dr. Brown has contributed to applied climatology through collaborations with agricultural and wildlife agencies.
