Mike Breault serves as an Assistant Professor in the Electronic & Photographic Media Department within Webster University's School of Communications at the St. Louis Main Campus. He joined the institution as a full-time faculty member in Fall 2018 after transitioning from a 30+ year career in the game industry.
His research and teaching expertise centers on digital games, game design, narrative design (writing for games), role-playing games, and game industry practices. With hands-on experience developing over 90 analog games and 40 digital titles across platforms including PC, Sega Genesis, NES, PlayStation, and Xbox, Breault bridges academic theory with industry application.
Breault has mentored students at multiple institutions including the University of Texas at Dallas, Bradley University, George Mason University, Butler University, and Miami of Ohio. His industry background informs his approach to cultivating next-generation game developers through practical curriculum design and real-world project guidance.
