Mikael von Numers is a Senior Lecturer at Åbo Akademi University in the Department of Environmental and Marine Biology, Faculty of Science and Engineering. His work focuses on conservation biology, coastal ecosystems, and wildlife management. He has conducted extensive research on topics such as butterfly habitat conservation, coastal marsh classification, and endangered species dynamics. His recent publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches to ecological challenges, including spatial patterns in population dynamics and collaborative conservation strategies across Nordic regions.
Research Interests: Conservation Biology, Marine Ecology, Coastal Ecosystems, Population Dynamics, Community Dynamics, and Wildlife Management. Key projects involve habitat restoration, predator-prey interactions in endangered species, and the application of ecological data to policy frameworks.
Collaborations: Active research networks with institutions in Finland, Sweden, and Denmark, focusing on coastal and terrestrial biodiversity. Recent work emphasizes harmonizing Nordic coastal habitat classifications and understanding metacommunity dynamics in fragmented ecosystems.
