Mika Putterman is a Course Instructor (Baroque Flute) at McGill University's Schulich School of Music, specializing in Early Music performance and historical research. She holds a bachelor’s degree from McGill and a master’s from the Koninklijk Conservatorium of Brussels. Her professional engagements include founding the ensemble Autour de la flute and La Petite Harmonie, alongside collaborations with prominent groups like Orchestre baroque Arion and Les Voix Humaines. Active in recording, she has released works with labels such as Analekta and ATMA Classique, focusing on period instrument performances of Baroque and Classical repertoire.
Her research interests emphasize historical performance practices, with particular attention to Baroque flute techniques and contextualizing works within their original settings. She regularly performs with international ensembles and has worked with renowned conductors including Bernard Labadie and Matthias Maute.
Mika’s discography includes world premieres of Beethoven’s folk songs and Kuhlau sonatas, as well as the recent recording Bach at the Mendelssohn’s with Jory Vinikour. She is committed to bridging scholarly research with live performance through her teaching and ensemble leadership.
