Mihnea SANDU

Mihnea SANDU serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Thermo-Hydraulic Systems and Atmospheric Protection at the Technical University of Civil Engineering of Bucharest (UTCB), Faculty of Civil Engineering. He is an active member of the Advanced Research Center for Ambiental Quality and Building Physics with over 25 years of professional experience in building installation systems.

Education:

• Graduated from Faculty of Installations (section: Installations and Equipment for Atmosphere Protection) - 1995
• Hydraulic Engineering specialization studies - 1996
• Doctor of Technical Sciences (2003) from UTCB and National Polytechnic Institute of Grenoble

Research Focus: His work centers on Energy Efficiency, Fire Safety, and Hydraulics with emphasis on flows and transfer phenomena. He investigates plumbing, heating, and fire extinguishing systems within building physics, contributing to environmental technologies and national regulatory frameworks through practical applications in real-world construction projects.

Professional Contributions: As a Project Verifier since 2011, he has executed 50+ thermal/sanitary installation projects across hospitals, hotels, and residential buildings while performing 1,000+ technical verifications. He significantly revised Romanian technical norms including NP011 (kindergartens), NP015 (hospitals), and NP024 (parking lots), plus flood adaptation guidelines for building protection.
