Sanda Mirela ŢOROPOC

Sanda Mirela ŢOROPOC is an Associate Professor at the Department of Thermo-hydraulic Systems and Atmospheric Protection within the Faculty of Building Services Engineering at the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest (UTCB). She has served as teaching staff since 1991, holds a PhD in Technical Sciences (1998), and has been a project verifier for thermal/sanitary installations since 2013 (200+ executed projects, 4,000+ verifications) and technical expert for interior/external systems since 2018 (100+ expertise reports).

She graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering in 1991 and earned her doctorate in 1998 with a thesis titled 'CONTRIBUŢII LA STUDIUL SISTEMELOR DE INCALZIRE PRIN RADIATIE DE INALTA TEMPERATURA CU TUBURI RADIANTE' (Contributions to the Study of High-Temperature Radiant Heating Systems with Radiant Tubes).

Her research centers on district heating infrastructure, energy efficiency optimization, and thermal engineering systems. She possesses specialized expertise in cogeneration, heat transport dynamics, radiant heating/cooling technologies, and sanitary installation design. Her regulatory contributions include the full revision of I13 regulation (2015), amendments (2022), Guide on Renewable Energy Sources in Buildings (2011), and Guide on Thermal Point Modernization (1996), alongside extensive studies on Bucharest's district heating network performance and heat loss reduction.

Dr. ŢOROPOC has led critical research initiatives:

• Project Leadership: Theoretical/experimental research on district heating for air conditioning; energy efficiency and fire safety of building heating systems
• Team Participation: CEER (Renewable Energy in Buildings), ESSET (Thermal System Evaluation), innovative heat supply monitoring systems, district heating rehabilitation solutions, and reliability/stability theoretical frameworks

She actively contributes to the Research Center for Energy Efficiency in Buildings at UTCB, advancing sustainable building technologies through applied research and regulatory development.
