Mihalis Doumas is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Psychology, Queen's University Belfast, where he serves as Programme Director of the MSc in Psychological Science (Conversion). His work focuses on sensory integration for movement control, particularly in neurotypical, atypical, and clinical populations such as older adults, those with autism, Parkinson's disease, and major depression. He employs methods like posturography, motion capture, neuroimaging (fNIRS), and brain stimulation (TMS/tDCS). Dr. Doumas actively supervises PhD students and teaches modules on Perception and Psychobiology and Ageing: Mind, Brain and Behaviour.
His research has produced over 40 peer-reviewed articles and contributed to projects like 'Dance for Parkinson’s' and 'Cognitive Resource Allocation in Postural Control'. Key contributions include exploring motor deficits in dyslexia, sensory reweighting in Parkinson’s patients, and care home intervention strategies. In 2023, he won the School of Psychology ICARE Award.
