Roozbeh Behroozmand is an Associate Professor in the Department of Speech Language and Hearing at The University of Texas at Dallas's School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences. He directs the Speech Neuroscience Lab at the Callier Center, focusing on neural mechanisms of speech production and sensorimotor control. His work integrates EEG, fMRI, and HD-tDCS techniques to study speech disorders in conditions like Parkinson's disease and post-stroke aphasia.
Education:
- PhD in Communication Sciences and Disorders (Northwestern University, 2011)
- MSc in Biomedical Engineering (Amirkabir University of Technology, 2006)
- BSc in Electrical Engineering (University of Tehran, 2003)
Research emphasizes:
- Neurophysiological biomarkers of speech disorders
- Speech auditory feedback processing
- Neurorehabilitation via brain stimulation
- Sensory-motor integration mechanisms
Recent work highlights:
- Disrupted neural connectivity in aphasia patients
- HD-tDCS effects on vocal control
- Attention's role in speech feedback adaptation
Awards include multiple NIH grants (totaling $5.8M) and recognition from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Current projects investigate aphasia biomarkers, Parkinson's speech deficits, and telepractice voice therapy efficacy. Lab collaborations span neuroimaging, computational modeling, and clinical translation.
