Mihaela Pop is a Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Bucharest, specializing in the philosophy of culture, aesthetics, ancient philosophy, art history, and Byzantine philosophy and culture. Her research explores intersections between cultural studies and philosophy, focusing on moral, religious, and aesthetic values.
- PhD in Philosophy (1999) and Comparative Literature (2008), both from the University of Bucharest and Lyon III
- Coordinator of international projects like Church and Culture in Romanian and Bulgarian History and Culture and Value in Late Modernity
- Member of research centers: CCIF, Center for Medieval Studies, and Center for the Study of the Imaginary
Her work spans topics such as Byzantine influence on Church-State relations, performance art, and the aesthetics of kitsch. She has co-edited volumes on cultural identity and religious philosophy, and her publications bridge theoretical frameworks with empirical studies in art, history, and cultural critique.
Recent articles analyze 20th-century art, Byzantine medical thought, and intercultural religious themes. She has received the Romanian Academy’s Mircea Florian Prize (2002) and participated in numerous international conferences and editorial boards.
