Dumitru Mircea is a distinguished academic and administrator in the field of philosophy. He currently holds the rank of Professor at the University of Bucharest’s Faculty of Philosophy, Department of Theoretic Philosophy and Logic, a position he has held since 2004. He served as Rector (President) of the University of Bucharest from 2011 to 2019 and held additional roles such as Vice-president of the Romanian Academy (2022–present), Executive Director of the Romania-US Fulbright Commission (2020–present), and Minister of Education and Scientific Research (2016–2017). He was also a Visiting Professor at Beijing Normal University (2017–2022).
His academic career includes leadership roles such as Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy (2000–2008), President of the European Society for Analytic Philosophy (2011–2014), and President of the International Institute of Philosophy (2017–2020).
