Dr. Mihaela Pintea is a Professor and Chairperson of the Economics Department at the Steven J. Green School of International & Public Affairs, Florida International University (FIU). She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Washington (2003) and has held visiting roles at the International Monetary Fund and the University of Maryland. Her research focuses on macroeconomics, economic growth, demographic economics, and public policy, particularly examining how taxation, public goods provision, and structural changes influence welfare and productivity. She has published extensively in journals like Review of Economic Dynamics and Journal of Macroeconomics. Dr. Pintea’s work spans topics including female labor participation, structural transformation, and leisure externalities in growth models. She teaches advanced courses such as ISS 6926: Capstone Project. Her research agenda includes exploring the interplay between technology, education, and economic development.
