John Coleman is a Full Professor at the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago (1987) and previously worked at the Federal Reserve System's International Finance Division. His research focuses on macroeconomics, monetary policy, international finance, and structural transformations in economies. He has pioneered computational methods for solving dynamic economic models and applies these to taxation, monetary policy, and technology adoption in developing countries. His work also examines the economic roots of ethnic conflict and global financial systems.
Teaching roles include the Global Executive MBA, Weekend MBA, and Cross-Continent MBA programs at Fuqua. He is a leader in integrating technology into distance learning. His research spans topics from liquidity supply to growth slowdowns, with notable contributions to understanding corruption-tax interactions and disease spread dynamics.
Publications include prominent works on corruption's economic impacts, structural transformation theories, and financial intermediation. His computational methods have advanced macroeconomic modeling, particularly in parallel computing applications.
