Adriano A. Rampini is the Douglas and Josie Breeden Professor of Financial Economics at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Economics. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago and previously taught at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. His research focuses on financial economics, macroeconomics, and the intersection of finance with economic policy, particularly around collateral, capital reallocation, and risk management.
Key research areas include the role of collateral in capital structure, dynamic risk management strategies, and the impact of financial constraints on firm behavior. His work has been published in top journals like the American Economic Review, Review of Economic Studies, and Journal of Finance.
Rampini has held leadership roles as Area Coordinator for Finance at Fuqua, President of the Foundation for Advancement of Research in Financial Economics (FARFE), and past President of the Financial Intermediation Research Society (FIRS) and Finance Theory Group (FTG). He is also a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).
His awards include the Alfred P. Sloan Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship and the 2008 Jensen Second Prize. He has advised institutions such as the International Monetary Fund and Federal Reserve Banks, and his recent work explores financing for clean technology adoption and household insurance dynamics.
