Dr. Miguel Dindial is a Research Fellow in the International Business Department at Leeds University Business School, University of Leeds. His research focuses on global value chains (GVCs), economic upgrading, and the developmental implications of multinational enterprise (MNE) activity in emerging and developing economies, with a regional emphasis on the Caribbean.
His research interests center on how developing country firms engage with and benefit from participation in global value chains, particularly through knowledge and resource transfers leading to economic upgrading. He explores how value is created and captured within these chains, contributing to broader debates in international business and development studies.
Dr. Dindial has published in high-quality journals such as Global Strategy Journal, Journal of Environmental Management, Critical Perspectives on International Business, and Technological Forecasting and Social Change. His work reflects interdisciplinary engagement across international business, sustainability, and socioeconomic development.
He is a member of the Centre for International Business at the University of Leeds (CIBUL) and holds professional affiliations with the Academy of International Business (AIB) and the British Academy of Management (BAM).
Dr. Dindial has consulted for the World Bank and previously held an academic position at the Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business, University of the West Indies. He was also involved in managing the Caribbean Pacific Island Mobility Scheme (CARPIMS), a major EU-funded South-South development initiative focused on institutional capacity building.
His educational background includes a PhD and MSc in International Business from the University of Leeds, and a BSc in Management Studies and Finance from the University of the West Indies.
