Michèle Bacholle

Michèle Bacholle is a Professor of French Studies at Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU), specializing in contemporary French and Francophone women’s literature, Algerian war narratives, and multiculturalism in youth literature. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut. Her research explores themes such as suicide survivors’ narratives, postcolonial identity, and socio-political memory through works like Récits contemporains d’endeuillés après suicide (2018) and Un appelé dans la guerre d’Algérie (2016). She teaches language, cinema, and literature courses, emphasizing cross-cultural dialogue. In 2018, she received ECSU’s Distinguished Professor Award, and in 2019 became a CSU Professor.
