Michelle de la Reza

Michele de la Reza is a Teaching Professor of Dance at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Music and co-founder/artistic director of Attack Theatre, a globally recognized dance company. Her work spans Broadway (e.g., Squonk), collaborations with Pittsburgh Opera, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and international institutions like Japan’s Nibroll Collective. She holds a BFA from The Juilliard School and a Master’s from the University of Pittsburgh.

Her research interests emphasize interdisciplinary performance, blending dance with opera, symphony, and visual art. Notable collaborations include Stravinsky’s L’histoire du soldat and productions with Quantum Theatre and the Andy Warhol Museum. She is a three-time recipient of the PA Council on the Arts Fellowship and the Hardie Educator of the Year award.

As part of Attack Theatre’s residency at CMU, she leads dance education initiatives. Her career bridges performance, choreography, and pedagogy, reflecting a commitment to innovative artistic expression.
