Michelle Wurtz

Michelle Wurtz is an Adjunct Professor in the Dance Department at Eastern University’s College of Arts and Humanities. She studied under renowned dancers Barbara Sandanato (trained by George Balanchine), Judith Jamison (former lead dancer of the Alvin Ailey Company), and Milton Myers (head of the Contemporary Division at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival). Her professional career began during her junior year with Group Motion, and she has trained extensively at institutions like the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet and the Martha Graham School in NYC.

Michelle directs Melange, the Pottstown Dance Theatre, and assistant directs Contempradance. Her students performed at the 2012 London Olympics under invitation from the American Alliance of Performing Arts Educators, leading to a teaching request from the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (founded by Sir Paul McCartney) in 2013.
