Candice Schnurr is an Adjunct Professor of Modern Dance at DeSales University. A Houston, TX native, she trained at Houston Ballet Academy and High School for Performing and Visual Arts, earned a BFA from SUNY Purchase Dance Conservatory, and an MFA from Montclair State University. She has performed internationally with notable companies including LeeSaar the Company (2008-2014), Wil Swanson/DANCEWORKS, and Ellis Wood Dance, originating roles in Bessie-nominated productions like FAME. Her teaching encompasses Gaga faculty roles at Dance New Amsterdam and Mark Morris Dance Center, alongside guest artist engagements.
Her research focuses on somatic awareness in movement, investigating the expressive potential of the human body through improvisation and choreographed work. She has performed at prestigious venues such as Joyce Theater, Jacob's Pillow Festival, and American Dance Festival across Germany, Portugal, Mexico, Poland, and Korea.
