Michelle Staggs Kelsall

Dr Michelle Staggs Kelsall is a Senior Lecturer in International Law and Deputy Head of Undergraduate Admissions at the School of Law, Gender and Media, SOAS University of London. She holds a BA in Media & Communications (Macquarie University), LLB (Macquarie), LLM in Public International Law (LSE, Distinction), and a PhD (University of Nottingham).

• Previously served as a Human Rights Officer at the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
• Leadership roles in non-profits, including trial monitoring in Sierra Leone and Cambodia, and overseeing ASEAN-wide human rights research as Deputy Director of the Human Rights Resource Centre.
• Research focuses on Business & Human Rights, global legal frameworks in the Global South, and intersections of corporate governance with human rights norms.

Co-founder of ATLAS, a global network advocating for women's representation in international law. Current work critiques historical trajectories of business-human rights discourse since the 1970s. Supervises PhD research on Cambodian queer politics and human rights law.
