Michelle R. Hribar is a Research Professor at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), specializing in clinical informatics, data science, and operations research. Her work focuses on leveraging electronic health record (EHR) data to improve clinical workflows and outcomes, particularly in ophthalmology. She holds a Ph.D. in computer science from Northwestern University and completed an NLM Clinical Informatics Fellowship at OHSU (2013–2015).
Her research integrates mathematical modeling, machine learning, and usability principles to address challenges in EHR documentation, predictive modeling, and data quality. Key contributions include studying clinician workflows, medication adherence, and the impact of medical scribes on documentation efficiency. She has pioneered methodologies for phenotype identification in real-world datasets and EHR metadata analysis.
Hribar has been awarded the NIH/NLM K99-R00 Pathway to Independence Award (2015–2020) and twice won the AMIA Student Design Competition (2014, 2015). Her work spans over 60 peer-reviewed articles, emphasizing AI applications in ophthalmology, EHR interoperability, and healthcare data standardization. She actively contributes to the OHDSI network and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to advance translational vision science and informatics.
