Dr. Deborah R. Levy is a Lecturer in the Department of Biomedical Informatics and Data Science at Yale School of Medicine, with a dual appointment in the Melnick Informatics Lab. She is a board-certified clinical informatician and internal medicine physician, specializing in optimizing healthcare technology to enhance patient and clinician experiences. Her research focuses on reducing electronic health record (EHR) burden through mixed-methods approaches, with emphasis on health professions trainees and frontline clinicians.
Education includes a BA in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania (1996), MD from Tel Aviv University (2000), MPH from University of Rochester (2008), and MS in Biomedical Informatics from Oregon Health & Science University (2024). She completed a preventive cardiology fellowship at University of Rochester.
Key research interests include documentation burden reduction, EHR transition impacts, and health professional well-being. Recent work explores scoping reviews on intervention strategies and novel applications of AI-driven analytics in healthcare workflows.
Notable awards include the 2023 AMIA Leadership Award and 2025 AMIA Fellowship. Her work has been featured in Applied Clinical Informatics, Journal of Medical Internet Research, and Pain Medicine. Collaborations include the 25x5 Task Force and VA clinical informatics initiatives.
